As We Are

Are you grateful that God Loves you as you are?

Often we fixate on the thought that we are so weak, and our life is so difficult. Sometimes we get sidetracked with negative thinking: life is not just, everyone else drives a nicer car than me, the autumn months depress me, my boss did not give me a raise before Thanksgiving, or my taxes will be higher next year. We sometimes allow negative feelings to consume us when, instead, we should be grateful that God loves us for who we are, as we are. He loves us completely – with our thoughts, our problems, our difficulties, our uncertainties, and our imperfections. God loves.

Cardinal Ratzinger once wrote: “Why not give God, who is rich in mercy, the truth?” We should generously offer God our weaknesses and misery, and await His divine love for us as we are.

Maybe tonight, before going to sleep, thank God for loving you so much. Thank Him for loving your husband, your wife, your children, your neighbors, your boss, your friends, and the whole world. Ask the Blessed Mother to be grateful in you and for you.

You can pray: “Mary, please be grateful in me and for me – for God’s Love for me, as I am.”

Yours in Christ,
Father Arthur
