General Bible Study | Bible Study For Women
General Bible Studies at the Parish Center
Each week, parishioners gather at the parish to reflect on the Scripture readings for the coming Sunday and to explore their implications for daily life. The Sunday Lectionary is designed to present a substantial amount of the entire Bible over a three-year period, so this approach to Bible study is both a chance to become acquainted with the whole Bible “from the heart of the church,” and an opportunity to share insights within the rhythm of the liturgical year. It isn’t necessary to register and there is no charge. Because the readings are read in context, participants typically bring along bibles rather than missals.
Meetings are scheduled:
- Friday mornings, 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the Cabrini Room of the Parish Center.
- Homebound parishioners and parishioners outside our geographical area are welcome to attend “Live on-line” via Zoom. For the Zoom code, email biblestudy@olwparish.org
Friday Bible study does not meet on Good Friday or the Friday after Thanksgiving. If the parish school is closed because of heavy snow, the Friday morning meeting is cancelled.
One of the leaders is happy to share the following reference materials with the parish:
- The first is a concordance of where to find specifically Catholic beliefs in the Bible. It is an Adobe PDF file and runs six pages plus cover.
- The second is a custom foldout comparing the Four Gospels. It is designed to be printed on both sides of a legal-size sheet, then folded in half, then folded to the fold lines (not in half again). It is an Adobe PDF file.

Bible Study for Women in the Gathering Place
Save the Date! OLW’s newest Bible Study for Women will begin Sunday, April 16 at 7pm in the Gathering Space. We will use the study course Fulfilled: Uncovering the Biblical Foundations of Catholicism (Ascensionpress.com).
Fulfilled is a book and a two-part study exploring the biblical roots of the Catholic Faith. It uncovers God’s consistent design for our worship of him and his relationship with us. Learn where the blueprint for the Catholic Faith was laid out in the Old Testament and how Jesus fulfilled it in the New Testament.

Home Bible Studies
There are also a number of self-directed Bible studies in the parish that meet in members’ homes. Because they are not held on the parish campus, specific details on dates, times and locations are typically not available.
