Our Treasure

Posted on August 2, 2022 by Published by

In today’s Gospel Jesus tells us that we must be happy and vigilant servants. Jesus says to us “Do not be afraid any longer, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom. See your belongings and give alms. Provide money bags for yourselves that do not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven that no thief can reach nor moth can destroy. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.”

When our heart is in Heaven and when Jesus is our treasure, then the world surrounding us is not as important. The only thing that becomes important is doing the will of God and longing for His kingdom. This is the approach of the saints.

This Sunday’s readings are full of hope. We are invited by Jesus to the New Jerusalem, to the beautiful home that is Heaven. Let us find in Jesus our treasure, and there also will our hearts be — whether here on earth, or one day in eternity.

Yours in Christ,
Father Arthur
