Father Mark’s Reflection: Holy Thursday
On Holy Thursday, the first day of the Sacred Triduum, Father Mark Augustine shared a reflection on the institution of the Holy Eucharist at the Lord’s Last Supper. He reflected on the unique differences of our priests — Fathers Arthur Marat, Dominic Vinh Ha, Daniel Brady, and himself — who share in the common bond of priesthood, and in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, “The heart of our faith.”
Father Mark imagined how our world would be transformed if we would only live according to the model of Christ’s prayer in the garden of Gethsemane, “Lord, not my will, but yours be done.” He concluded by reciting Psalm 88, prayed by Christ the evening of Holy Thursday while imprisoned in a cell in the house of Caiaphas, as he awaited his trial and crucifixion on Good Friday.
