Summer Reflection

Posted on July 22, 2024 by Published by

My Dear Students, Teachers and Parishioners,

We are well into the wonderful Summer Season and I hope you are enjoying all it has to offer. I would also like to take a moment to invite you to try deepening your relationship with Jesus by reflecting on the following…

  • Only Jesus can answer the questions that we have about life.
  • Only He can give our lives true meaning and purpose.
  • Only Jesus can make us happy and help us to make other people happy.

Finding Answers

When we have questions, we often go to Google or to the Internet to find answers. When Jesus walked the earth more than two-thousand years ago, the Internet did not exist. It was not possible to find answers to life’s most important questions by “Googling it” or visiting the library. People had to turn to God.

Ironically, with electronic media swirling all around us, it is the same in these modern times. The Internet cannot answer all our questions – particularly questions regarding the meaning of life, our purpose and vocation, God’s plan for our life, and who God is. These are the questions and issues that burn within our hearts and never leave us.

For this reason, it is vitally important for us to open our minds and hearts to discover God in our daily lives. It is crucial to have a relationship with Him.

How do we discover God in our daily lives?

  • Through prayer – having a conversation with God in our hearts
  • Through good works – listening to our parents and teachers, and helping those in need
  • Through the world surrounding us
  • Through the sacraments – receiving Jesus in the Eucharist

Farewell Dr. David Wood

I am thankful to God for giving me the pleasure of working with Dr. David Wood at Our Lady of the Wayside School.
Dr. Wood did an excellent job leading our school for 15 years. He focused on academic success, adapting the curriculum and services to better serve our students. One of the OLW School’s achievements during his tenure was receiving the National Blue Ribbon Award in 2015. Also, let’s not forget, he successfully led the school through a global pandemic. Although it is time to say goodbye to Dr. Wood, I wish him much continued success in the next step of his career and future endeavors. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers.

Welcome Matthew Martino

I am delighted that Mr. Matthew Martino has rejoined our school staff and will serve our parish community in the new role of School Principal. It is my hope and prayer that Matt’s extensive experience and many talents will enrich our school by deepening our student’s faith and relationship with Christ.

Enjoy the rest of the Season and make time for Jesus, being aware of His presence and the many blessings you enjoy.

Yours in Christ,
Father Arthur
