Jesus Christ is Born
Dear Parishioners of Our Lady of the Wayside,
This Christmas of 2023 I come to share with you the Christmas wafer – a piece of holy bread and a symbol of the newborn Child Jesus. I come as a shepherd among you and with you in order to pay homage to the God-Man. My wish for you is that we as one community renewed by grace grow in faithfulness to God and to the Church.
In gratitude we look at how much the Christ Child changes our hearts and how much has been accomplished because of Him. This year has been fruitful. As a community we have been involved in growing together spiritually, which endows us with a greater sensitivity to matters of faith, our parish, and our school. I would like to thank you for your understanding as well as your sincere cooperation in all we have done for the benefit and development of this community and the Body of Christ, the Church.
I would also like to remind and assure you that the rectory doors are open wide to anyone who would like to talk, who needs or wants an explanation regarding the faith or what takes place at our parish, or who would want to work together on some initiative that promotes our parish life, faith, love, fraternity, and solidarity.
Just like the shepherds of Bethlehem, who in disbelief and at times in fear of the unknown courageously continued along the path of faith, let us heed the words of the angels, and announce to world of the glory of God and “peace to those on whom His favor rests” (Lk 2:14).
I wish you all the merriest and most grace-filled Christmas! God, who is Love, festively assures us that we are dear and precious in His sight.
Yours in Christ,
Fr Arthur Marat
