Reducing the Unnecessary to Make Room for the Necessary

The following reflection is Deacon Paul Onischuk’s Homily from Our Lady of the Wayside’s Family Mass on July 17, 2022.
In the Gospel according to Luke, Chapter 10, Verse 38-42, we hear how Martha is “burdened with much serving” and “anxious and worried about many things.” Does this sound familiar? Take a moment (roughly eight minutes to be exact) to explore what might have prevented Martha—and what prevents us—from having time to participate in the “better part,” spending time with and listening to Jesus…an essential that we truly need!
