OLW Ministries: Worship & Spiritual Life

Ministries are the lifeblood of any great parish and, as we begin to reemerge from a 15-month COVID-induced hibernation period, we are looking to REIGNITE our great Ministries.

Our Lady of the Wayside Parish welcomes you to join our ministry family where you will find an opportunity to give of yourself by helping others in addition to growing personally/spiritually in our faith community. Below is a list of Worship & Spiritual Life Ministries. Next week, we’ll feature additional ministries.

Adult Enrichment: Through Scripture studies, guided presentations, and prayer and reflection events, this ministry supports parish members as they grow in their faith and apply it in their daily lives. Contact Marlene Bowen: marlenebowen@comcast.net.

Altar Servers: Opportunity for students to assist the priest and deacons in the actions of the Mass, the celebration of various sacraments, and other church services. Contact Marlene Bowen: marlenebowen@comcast.net

Altar Cleaners: Help with a variety of cleaning tasks around the altar. Contact Deacon Peter LeTourneau: pletourneau@archchicago.org.

Art & Environment: Help plan, design and execute the Worship Space environment for the various seasons of the Liturgical Year. Contact Deacon Peter LeTourneau: pletourneau@archchicago.org.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word: Create an opportunity for the younger members of the parish to experience and learn from the liturgy during the liturgical portion of the mass. Contact Erin Berwick: erin.berwick@yahoo.com.

Men/Women’s Welcome Weekend: A weekend retreat opportunity planned by parishioners for parishioners who want to deepen their relationship with God. One weekend for men; one weekend for women. Men contact Dave Woods: menscrhp@olwparish.org. Women contact Pam Mamsch: womenscrhp@olwparish.org.

Engaged Couples Ministry: Married mentor couples meet with engaged couples for marriage preparation. Contact Deacon Peter LeTourneau: pletourneau@archchicago.org.

Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers: Distribute the Body and Blood of Christ to those that cannot attend mass. Contact Marlene Bowen: marlenebowen@comcast.net.

Friday Bible Study: Grow in knowledge and love of Jesus Christ by examining the upcoming Sunday readings, find connections to our lives, and share our faith. Contact Kathleen Miller: biblestudy@olwparish.

Lectors: Proclaim God’s Word to the assembly at Mass and other Liturgical Services. Contact Marlene Bowen: marlenebowen@comcast.net.

Lenten Soup & Stations: Invite the community to come together for food and conversation following the Stations of the Cross. Contact Ann Marie Tarczon: ann.tarczon@gmail.com.

Little Saints Pray and Play: Share God’s great love with children, from infancy through Kindergarten, by sharing bible stories, playing games and singing songs together along with caregivers. Contact Katy Baumgartner: kdknight@uwalumni.com.

Marriage Encounter: A weekend enrichment program for married couples who value their relationship and desire a richer, fuller life together. Contact Brad & Sally Shewmon: bradshewmon@gmail.com.

Monday Night Rosary Group: Promote devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the patroness of our Parish, through praying the rosary. Contact Chris Sturek: polishgale@comcast.net.

Music Ministry: Singers and instrumentalists lead the congregation in song at weekend, Holy Day, sacramental and funeral masses. Contact Dan McMahon: musicministry@olwparish.org.

RCIA: Spiritual and educational formation through which adults become fully initiated members of the Roman Catholic Church through Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist. Contact Deacon Paul Onischuk: ponischuk@archchicago.org or Carol Stuber: macystuber@yahoo.com.

Sacristans: Offer care for the vessels of the altar and prepare for the sacramental action of the parish at Masses and Liturgical Services. Contact Deacon Peter LeTourneau: pletourneau@archchicago.org.

Sewing Committee: Provide a handmade baptismal bib to every infant receiving the sacrament of baptism in addition to light mending of other linens used during the mass. Contact Mary Hamilton: The6hamiltons@yahoo.com.

Ushers/Greeters: Welcome parishioners to Mass, pass out and collect worship booklets, seat parishioners collect donations, pass out bulletins and in the event of an emergency, call for medical help. Contact Jim Pekarek: jpekarek@comcast.net.
