Day Six:

Thank you for joining us. Today is our final post. It is more from Paul’s letter to the Corinthians about love.

Day 6 Bible Verse

1 Corinthians 13:8-13 (see video here)

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Day 6 Bible Points

• Love wins! Every time, all the time, and anytime.
• Jesus, the perfect example of God’s love has come.
• Partial love must be done, we are called to fully love.

Day 6 Activity

On a square piece of colored paper, write down something that you love about yourself. God loves everything about you – He created you in His likeness. It shows that you love God when you also love yourself. Bring this to the cooler outside the parish office and the papers collected will be turned into an art project of some sort.

Day Five:

Day 5 Bible Verse

1 Corinthians: 4-7 (see video here)

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Day 5 Bible Points

God calls us to help carry the cross, who needs us to share the weight? Who needs us believe and hope for them? A lot is going on in the world. What small thing can we endure for others?

Day 5 Activity

On another craft stick you color write down a small thing you can do – wear a mask, give up an activity, listen to someone else’s frustrations, try to see the world in someone else’s point of view. Share with those who can’t work or support themselves. Say thank you to someone who has not stopped working.

Day Four:

Today we continue with more of the bible verse from last week.

Day 4 Bible Verse 

1 Corinthians: 4-7 (see video here)

Day 4 Bible Points

Sometimes it’s hard to be patient when we feel frustrated. It’s hard to not be jealous when we feel like something is not fair. It’s hard to rejoice in truth, when we are not being heard. What can you do to remember the goodness of Love when you are feeling negative?

Day 4 Activity

Color a craft stick, any color. On one side write down what you think no one is hearing. Bring your craft stick, if you want, to the cooler in front of the parish center. All sticks that are collected will be used in an art project of some type.

Day Three:

We continue with our Bible Verse posts and the structure of VBS. This is the same verse we’ve shared all week. Next week, we’ll continue with more from this letter about Love.

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Day 3 Bible Points

All our lives have been changing a lot. It’s hard, how can we be loving in the midst of our frustration and fear? Anytime you feel afraid, frustrated, or bored pray or even read the Hail Mary. Mary’s life was changed a lot, let’s look to her and ask for grace. To have a heart that is so filled with love, when God calls us to change, to be the love song other people hear, that we say yes.

Day 3 Activity

Take a walk and notice all the colors in nature. What colors calm you? The beauty of nature is a love letter from God to us. How many shades of green can you find? Can you find yellow, black, purple, red, blue, orange, pink? How many colors do you see?

Day 2 Bible Points

• We all fail sometimes; think about the times you are a noisy gong or clanging cymbal.
• When you make a mistake this week, think of a song that makes you happy, feel love, makes you smile. God has filled our world with beautiful sounds as a love song to us. Think of a spiritual song that you really – maybe a VBS song or a song we sing in Church. Listen to it, sing it, and share it. Pray that you become the beautiful song God made you to be.

Day 2 Activity

Listen to the noises around you – which do identify as pleasing, calming, annoying, frightening? Sit quietly in your backyard and listen to different sounds. Take a walk and notice other sounds that you hear. You can print and use this Sound Scavenger Hunt.

Today is the first post with Bible verses, bible points, an activity and a song – the same things campers do in VBS. Take time to talk with your family about this passage’s theme of Love.

• How can you show God’s love and your love to others?
• Can someone see God’s love by who we are and not just what we do?

Day 1 Activity

On a rock or stone- paint/write/decorate someone who shows you God’s love. On the other side, think of someone you can be God’s love to. Bring the rock to Church, if you wish, and place it in the cooler outside the Parish Center. All rocks collected will become part of something on our parish campus.
