BISHOP ROJAS AND THE PRIEST’S PLACEMENT BOARD BEGINS PROCESS TO FIND NEW OLW PASTOR
Bishop Alberto Rojas along with representatives from the Priest’s Placement Board of the Archdiocese of Chicago began the process of selecting a new pastor for Our Lady of the Wayside Parish by conducting three Town Hall meetings in the church on Wednesday, November 6.
The first meeting included OLW parish staff, the second included the chairs and leaders of various OLW committees and ministries, and the third was open to all parishioners.
Although questions varied from attendees, the message was generally the same: it can be a lengthy process and it is not likely that a new pastor will be named by Cardinal Blase Cupich until mid-2020.
Among the challenges facing the Cardinal are the declining number of priests in the Archdiocese of Chicago. The average age of priests is 62 and there are currently 528 priests in the Archdiocese. Of those, 184 are foreign born and 221 are 70 years old or older.
If you were unable to attend the meeting, fear not! The Placement Board invites all parishioners to give their input by completing this downloadable Input Form!
