Wayside Open 2024 is in the Books!

It’s in the books! Wayside Open 2024 brought OLW parishioners and guests of all ages and handicaps together for an sunny, fun day of scramble golf. 74 golfers assembled at Old Orchard Country Club for the big event. Before the shotgun start, Father Arthur led with a prayer and Father Gilbert followed with a robust distribution of Holy Water on all. While unconfirmed sources hinted that drivers and putters could be blessed for an additional “small donation” to the parish, eyewitnesses noticed that a few golfers gamed the system by extending their clubs while Holy Water was being sprinkled.

After the fairways and greens cleared, all golfers and 10 additional “dinner only” guests assembled in the clubhouse for a meal and beverages, an awards ceremony, and raffle prizes.  As is our custom, Father Arthur and Gilbert were on hand to lead with a few words and a prayer. Bill Cleary, the event organizer, announced to all present that the Wayside Open raised more than $XXX for the parish.

Thank you to all #doers and #differencemakers who planned, organized, assisted with, sponsored (there were 14 of them!), and came out for this fantastic golf outing!
