SVdP Fun Run/Walk… FUN!
On a mild and cloudy morning, 160 members from Our Lady of the Wayside, St. James and St. Edna’s parishes gathered for the St. Vincent de Paul/Community Outreach Fun Run/Walk for the Poor. About 130 participants trekked either a 1-mile or 5K course with the assistance of 30 volunteers and the Arlington Heights Police and Public Works Departments.
The morning began with a spirited Kids’ Dash, and ten members of the OLW Cross Country Team led the athletes across both the 1-mile and 5K courses. Fastest Male was awarded to Derek Casciano, and Fastest Female was won by Josphine Petrelis. The Mongoven family was recognized for their eight participants in the race.
Proceeds from the event will be used to provide food, housing, transportation, medical and referral services to parishioners and others in need living within our tri-parish boundaries. Thank you to all participants, organizers, and volunteers who came out for an enjoyable event!
