Catholic Charities NEEDS YOUR HELP

Are you passionate about helping others? Become a volunteer at Catholic Charities’ North and Northwest Regional Service Center, at 1717 Rand Road, Des Plaines. 

Catholic Charities North and Northwest Regional Food Pantry:

We desperately need your help serving those coming to our pantry and to reestablish our pantry to a Client’s Choice Pantry offering.  Specifically, we need volunteers in the following areas:

• Food Receiving
• Client Check-in
• Curbside Distribution
• Stocking Shelves
• Packing Food Parcels, and
• Assisting Clients with food choices

Time Commitment:

• Monday: Twice a month GCFD Food Delivery – Call for details

Local Food Rescue – Call for details

• Tuesday: Client Check-In 10a – 12p and 1pm – 3pm
• Wednesday: Client Check-In 10a – 12p and 1pm – 3pm and 3pm – 6pm

Curbside Distribution:  10a – 12p and 1pm – 3pm and 3pm – 6pm

• Thursday: Client Check-In 10a – 12p and 1pm – 3pm

Catholic Charities North and Northwest Regional Office also needs and Reception Volunteer:

As the Reception Volunteer, you are the face of Catholic Charities, welcoming all that come to us, in need for services.  This role provides coverage of the switchboard answering calls and those entering our North and Northwest Regional Center, at 1717 Rand Road, in Des Plaines.  Come help us maintain the agency’s image through professional greeting and directing visitors, callers and patrons, to needed programs and agency representatives.  You may also assist with the check-in of clients coming to use the pantry, clothing room, learning center and our twice weekly suppers.

• Work involves offering general information about Catholic Charities’ services, checking-in patrons needing services, providing phone numbers for Catholic Charities and other community resources, if necessary.
• Interacts with clients and visitors in stressful situations, requires sensitivity to vulnerable populations.

Time Commitment:

• We seek volunteers Monday – Friday, who are regularly available to come a day during the week, during one or two shift options. These options are: 10am and 1pm and Noon – 3pm. We are currently looking for help on:
  • Monday: 10am-1pm and Noon – 3pm
  • Tuesday: Noon – 3pm
  • Wednesday: 10am – 1pm
  • Thursday: 10am – 1pm and Noon – 3pm
  • Friday: 10am – 1pm and Noon – 3pm
