“Lord, it is good that we are here!”
It is soooooo good to be back at Our Lady of the Wayside without restriction. Praise God!
After fifteen months of a devastating pandemic that shuttered and darkened our Church, separated our faithful from mass, from the Holy Eucharist and from each other and, later, restricted our worship numbers, required registration, forced us to hide our smiles behind masks, prohibited singing, hugs and handshakes of peace, and [un]socially distanced us, we have reemerged!
Last Saturday at the 5:00 pm Vigil Mass, Fr. Mark Augustine welcomed OLW Parishioners home to the first unrestricted weekend mass in 448 days. In his homily, Father commented how happy he was to see the faces of our parishioners for the very first time and, paraphrasing the words of St. Peter, how ‘good it is that we are here.’ Father Mark also suggested that it was no coincidence that we were celebrating the lifting of restrictions and were reunited as a parish family on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus — when Christ’s heart was pierced and redemption, healing, grace, love and mercy flowed forth from it.
Get Your OLW Mojo Back!
For those who missed it, here is Father Mark’s homily. Take a moment to listen and experience the joy!
And for those who might not have attended mass at OLW last weekend and/or who forgot what unrestricted (pre-COVID) mass looks like, enjoy the photos below.
We are back! We are Our Lady of the Wayside Parish. We are one Our Lady of the Wayside Family. If you haven’t already rejoined us yet, we welcome you back with open, loving arms. Come celebrate. Come rejoice. Come thank and honor our gracious Lord and our Patroness with your prayer and physical presence. Please know that your presence and participation IS difference-making.
Unite with us and, together, we will become OLW Strong once again. Welcome home.
Peace!
