Ash Wednesday

On Ash Wednesday, February 17, 2021 ashes will be distributed at the following services. All services are open to the public, but preregistration is required. To register online, click HERE, or call the office at 847-253-5353 to reserve your spot.
- 7:00 am – Prayer Service
- 8:30 am – Mass (this mass will also be livestreamed)
- 4:00 pm – Prayer Service
- 7:00 pm – Mass
COVID-19 guidelines for the distribution of ashes:
- After blessing the ashes and sprinkling them with holy water in silence, the priest or deacon addresses those present, reciting once the formula found in the Roman Missal: “Repent, and believe in the Gospel” or “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.“
- The priest and deacon then put on a face mask and a shield, sanitize their hands and distributes ashes to those who come to him.
- They then sprinkle the ashes on each person’s head without saying anything.
- The practice of sprinkling ashes on a person’s head is commonplace in many parts of the world.
