First Holy Communion Mass at 2:00 pm

The second group of Our Lady of the Wayside School and Religious Education Program 2nd-graders received the Holy Eucharist — the true presence of Jesus Christ — for the first time this afternoon at 2:00 pm.  Father Gilbert and Father Arthur concelebrated, with Deacon Peter LeTourneau assisting.

Father Gilbert offered a beautiful homily, gathering the communicants on the altar and, using a large painting of the Lord’s Last Supper as a visual aid, he quizzed them on its importance. He also challenged them to name all the apostles seated with Jesus that day more than 2,000 years ago. Father Gilbert also reminded parents of their responsibility to bring their children to mass for communion regularly, and to not deny them the joy and blessings of receiving Christ.
