Soiree Celebrates 70 Years of Catholic Education
The Celebrate 70! OLW Soiree was held Saturday, February 25, at Metropolis Ballroom in downtown Arlington Heights. It was great to see so many people with different ties to the school and parish come together to celebrate 70 years of Catholic education at OLW.
Everyone looked beautiful; the food and drinks were good; the band was lively. Attendees represented school families from preschool to eighth grade, past parents from a few years to many years ago, and parishioners who wanted to celebrate and support the parish and school.
Father Arthur began the evening with a prayer, then Mr. Wood spoke on behalf of the school and Ronnie Brennan spoke on behalf of the Religious Education Program (REP). Jim Bristol was the emcee and encouraged the crowd to raise their paddles in support of scholarships at OLW. We raised almost $30,000 for scholarships in just a short amount of time. Then the live auction began and it was spirited! People were generously bidding high for each unique item.
Attendees enjoyed the music from Brass from the Past and came out to dance. People also enjoyed mingling with new and old friends.
Soiree was a great success in raising funds to support the school as well as scholarships for school and REP. Thank you to all who attended, the volunteers who helped behind the scenes, the donors who provided items and services for the live and silent auctions, and, of course, thank you to everyone who donated during the paddle raise, the live and silent auctions.
We look forward to the next Soiree!
