Our Lady of the Wayside Parishioner Flo Trunk received a well-deserved Volunteer Heart of Gold Award from the Village of Arlington Heights for her commitment to faith and her community over two decades. Flo and Bud Trunk moved to Arlington Heights in 1999, joined Our Lady of the Wayside Parish, and raised six children here.  During this time, Flo served as a volunteer in numerous roles including:

  • Volleyball and Softball Coach
  • Altar Server Trainer
  • Middle School Youth Ministry
  • Mission Trip Chaperone
  • Peer Ministry Assistant
  • CHRP Retreat Leader
  • Usher at Masses
  • Fundraiser for several events

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, within the last year, Flo has led the charge to create and/or revitalize important ministries serving women, seniors and our youth, including:

  • Woman of Wayside (WOW)
  • Salt & Light Wayside Seniors
  • Youth Ministry Program

Flo Trunk’s unbridled energy is driven by her belief that “the time I give back to God is merely a fraction of all that he has given me.”

Our Lady of the Wayside congratulates Flo on winning the award and thanks her for her passion, energy, and creativity in our parish. #doer, #differencemaker, #disciple
