Advent Mission & Concert: Behold A Mystical Rose
St. Theresa Parish invites you to the Advent Mission & Concert: Behold A Mystical Rose this Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 7:00pm. Presented by Rev. Tim Fairman, Pastor of St. Theresa, the spiritual, musical event will feature vocalists from the Chicago area, alongside the St. Theresa Children’s Choir, and accompanied by the Metropolis Symphony Orchestra.
This year’s event will honor Our Lady of Guadalupe on her feast day, and will feature thoughtful meditations on Our Lady of Guadalupe and her mystical appearance to Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin in 1531. Rev. Tim Fairman and Rev. Matt Jamesson will give reflections that meditate on Our Lady’s apparition and intercession in our world. Musical selections will include a polyphonic motet in St. Juan Diego’s native language, a traditional Mexican serenade to La Guadalupana, a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Spanish Villancico, an anthem to the Virgin by a local composer, and more. David Bond will conduct the ensemble. David studied orchestral conducting at The Catholic University of America in Washington DC, and has directed church music ministry programs in multiple states. David joined St. Theresa as the Director of Music in August 2023. Refreshments, cocktails, and appetizers will be served starting at 6:00 pm. The concert will begin at 7:00 pm, and will include an intercession.
All are welcome, and the event is free. Donations will be accepted for St. Theresa’s Patrons of Sacred Music fund.
