Knights Lead OLW Grotto Project
The Knights of Columbus, Holy Rosary Council, are in action here at Our Lady of the Wayside! At the request of Fathers Arthur and Gilbert, they are building a grotto on the south side of the church — between the rectory and priest sacristy stairs.
The Knights have secured the services of a landscape architect, a horticulturist/artist, a tree removal service, and a landscaper to insure the work is done properly. Several of these professionals have generously donated their time and talents at no charge. Others have given significant discounts on their services.
The Grotto Project budget was set at $30,000, and the goal is to cover the cost without using parish funds or a capital campaign. Rather this will be a ‘grass roots’ project. The Knights have already secured pledges from several individuals and they are now asking for your support to meet the goal. Work is already underway.
The six-foot “Welcoming Virgin” statue is scheduled to arrive from Italy in March 2024 and the goal is to complete the Grotto Project by May 1st, 2024.
