(Early 1950s) Northwest Community Hospital breaks ground.

1959 was a very busy year for our parish. With the swelling of enrollment of our school children, it became imperative to add another six classrooms to the school. Excavation was started for this addition, and at the same time, work began on the new rectory which was to adjoin the new Church on Park Street.

The Confraternity of Christian Doctrine was canonically erected this year also. 125 public high school children were taught religion each Monday night by some truly zealous lay-people of the parish. The Sisters took care of 150+ grammar school children each Saturday morning.

In December that year, Northwest Community Hospital opened in the parish boundaries, This 110-bed hospital, plus the convalescent home, Magnus Farm (which is now The Moorings), became a source of great apostolic work done for the sick by our priests.
