Celebrate 70! Fun Fact: Automobile Raffle Fundraisers

Automobile raffles were an important and successful fundraising tool in the earliest days of our parish. Booklets containing 12 raffle tickets of $1 each were distributed to parishioners who were expected to sell to family and friends. Money raised went to the building fund for Our Lady of the Wayside’s School and Convent. Winners were announced at annual Dance and Card Parties (which were also fundraisers).
In 1954, a Cadillac Coup de Ville was awarded.
In 1955, three Chevrolet Bel-Air Sedans were awarded, courtesy of Latoff Motor Sales.
In 1956, a Cadillac Sedan de Ville was awarded.
