Celebrate 70 Fun Fact: Card Parties

Beginning October 17, 1952, the OLW Catholic Women’s Club instituted a parish-wide series of card parties to aid the church building fund. Members of each committee held the parties in their homes. A portion of OLW’s parishioners were invited to each party where they were given names of additional parishioners to invite to a similar party the following week. This continued until all parishioners attended a card party. $1 was requested of each attendee. This was a great way to raise building funds and for new parishioners to get to know each other.
