DID YOU KNOW…
Our parish is named after a 13th-14th Century fresco of the Blessed Mother and Child, painted on a wall in St. Mary of The Way (Madonna Della Strada) Church in Rome. The church was located on a ceremonial route on which the pope made his way to and from Roman stational churches.
In 1568, The Church of Jesus (Chiesa del Gesù) was erected on the site of the former church, and the fresco has been on display there ever since.
