Hello Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

My name is Fr. Gilbert Rushubirwa Mashurano and I’m very excited to have just been assigned to be the Associate Pastor of Our Lady of the Wayside Parish, starting on July 1st, 2022.

I was born and raised in Bokoba, Tanzania, which is a country located in the eastern part of Africa. I came to United States of America as a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Chicago, and was sent to St. Joseph College Seminary, under Loyola University, to study for two semesters. I then transferred to St. Mary of the Lake University in Mundelein to continue with my studies, eventually earning a Master’s Degree in Divinity.

I was ordained to the Priesthood on May 12, 2012, at Holy Name Cathedral by His Eminence, Francis Cardinal George. My first assignment was to St. James Parish in Arlington Heights, Illinois, where I served for five years, until July, 2017. I was then assigned to St. Raymond Parish, in Mt. Prospect, where I also served for five years.

I’m looking forward to becoming a part of the Our Lady of the Wayside Parish family! Please drop by the Gathering Place after all weekend masses on July 2nd and 3rd to say Hello, and introduce yourself and your family.

Our Lady of the Wayside …… Pray for Us!

Yours in Christ,
Father Gilbert Mashurano
