Second Collection: Retirement Fund for Religious

Posted on December 1, 2021 by Published by

There will be a second collection next Saturday/Sunday, December 11-12 for the Retirement Fund for Religious.

The Retirement Fund for Religious helps religious communities care for senior members—today and tomorrow.

THE NEED:

Across the United States, hundreds of religious communities lack financial resources sufficient to meet the retirement and health-care needs of aging members.

Lack of Funds — Many elder religious worked for years for small stipends, leaving a large gap in retirement savings. At the same time, fewer religious are able to serve in compensated ministry.

Rising Costs — Like many Americans, religious communities face the monumental challenge of funding eldercare.

Changing Demographics — Today, retired religious outnumber wage-earners by nearly three to one.

There are many ways to provide financial assistance to senior religious and their communities. Your gift is tax deductible.

Give in church

Please give during the second collection at Our Lady of the Wayside on December 11-12. If you are unable to give to the collection during Mass, please mail your offertory envelope to your parish (write RFR on the memo line of your check).
