Church & Parish Center Receive TLC
Earlier this week, Our Lady of the Wayside’s Church and Parish Office received much-needed tender loving care. Leaks that were causing water damage were discovered in both buildings and remediation was needed to prevent further damage and deterioration.
Church Chimney
Sokol Masonry, Inc. performed work on our church chimney. The chimney had several open joints that were visible from the ground and required grinding and tuck-pointing to prevent further water damage. They also resealed the chimney flashing and completely power-washed the chimney, along with the south upper brick wall and west wall.
Bell Tower & Church Entrance
The front of the church and the bell tower were also power-washed.
Parish Center
The Parish Center building had active leaks in the Cabrini and Seton Meeting rooms. The west elevation had grinding and tuck-pointing done from the second floor windows to the top of the parapet wall. The coping stones were reset along the west wall and the small section of the south wall to install drip edge and flashing underneath. Also, flashing and drip edge were installed above the windows in both meeting rooms with active leaks to prevent further water damage.
A well-deserved shout out of thanks to Sokol Masonry for going an extra mile and generously donating one day of power-washing to the front of our church. This gesture of kindness brightens not only our campus, but also our spirits!
