Another Email SCAM: Beware

Posted on May 6, 2021 by Published by

It was just brought to our attention that there has been yet another email SCAM attempt launched on some of our flock. As has been the case with previous attempts, the email appears to be sent from Fr. Marat, looking for assistance in securing gift cards.  Gift cards are a common ploy in email SCAMS.

As a friendly reminder, Father Marat does NOT have a Gmail account.  Email appearing to be coming from Father using a Gmail account is NOT coming him.

For those unfamiliar with phishing email SCAMS, here’s how the bogus email appeared…

Greetings ? I have a request.

Here’s what I want you to do for me secretly. because I’m a little busy right now. I have been working on incentives and I aimed at surprising some of our diligent staff with gift cards this week. This should be Confidential until they all have the gift cards as it’s a surprise and you will keep one for yourself too.

Can you get this done? and how soon?

Not to worry, there is a very simple solution for SCAM emails like this:

HIT DELETE!
