Our Lady of the Wayside parishioners are invited and encouraged to attend, House of Worship Safety 101: An Active Shooter Awareness & Response Presentation.  This is a live event that will take place in our church on Monday, April 26 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.

The evening promises to be highly informative, as Sargent Alexandra Nelson of the Arlington Heights Police Department will present strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Topics will include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues, and considerations for conducting drills.

Per Archdiocese and State of Illinois directives, seating will be limited to 125 attendees and preregistration is mandatory.  Click here to register:

Correction: This presentation will NOT be video livestreamed. This will be an in-person event (only).

Additional informationLaw enforcement agencies are frequently requested by schools, businesses, and community members for direction on what to do if confronted with an active shooter event. This presentation by officer Nelson is based on the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004.
