Message of Thanks: Sisters of the Living Word

Posted on March 17, 2021 by Published by

Dear Priests, Deacons, Staff and Parishioners of Our Lady of the Wayside Parish,

As the Sisters of the Living Word look to the future, we realize the need to “right size” our property to the needs of our Community.  Our number of Sisters decreasing, and our aging, makes the sustainability of our Living Word Center property no longer possible.  Thus, we have put our Center on the market to be sold.  We will continue our planning for the present and future care of our members, coordinating our engagement in Mission, and tending to the needs of the Community from a more manageable, smaller space.

Our location on North Fernandez Avenue in Arlington Heights has served as our SLW Administrative Head-quarters and Ministry Center since 1990.  We are grateful that we were able to share this lovely, peaceful setting with so many people over the years.  Individuals and groups have been blessed through their meetings, prayer experiences, scripture study, faith sharing, spiritual direction, retreats and celebrations at our Center.  As we move from the Living Word Center this July, we carry fond memories and rich blessings that this sacred space has provided to us and to so many.

You are among the special blessings we’ve known in our being in Arlington Heights for the past thirty years!  A number of our Sisters have been blessed to be with you on many occasions – Liturgy, RCIA, retreats, days of reflection, times of sharing with the Jr. Hi Youth Group, and opportunities for outreach to people in need.  At all of these times, as well as when you have participated in our SLW events, we have experienced the caring spirits and joyful hearts of your parish community. We’ve appreciated all of this as a sign of your support for our Mission to “reflect and affirm the presence of the Word in our world . . . to help free the oppressed and bring new life.”

We are grateful to you for your presence in our lives, and in the life of our Community!  Know that as we move from Arlington Heights, fond memories of you go with us. You will be held gratefully and lovingly in our prayer.

May Jesus, the Living Word, continue to walk with you in your journey of faith, blessing you always in all ways,

Sr. Carrie Miller, SLW, Sr. Sharon Glumb, SLW, Sr. Kris Vorenkamp, SLW, and all the Sisters of the Living Word
