Today We Celebrate the Feast Day of St. Juan Diego

Today is the feast day of St. Juan Diego.  Deacon Jerry Brennan gave a beautiful homily about the Saint, to whom the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared, on three occasions, in the 16th century.  St. Juan Diego is the first Saint indigenous to the Americas.  Deacon Jerry’s homily is absolutely worth a listen; click here.

In honor of the Saint, Father Arthur donned a very colorful, and hard to miss, vestment.  While it had some Mexican/Aztec overtones, perhaps, it is actually a Polish Highlander vestment that was given to him at his first Parish after migrating to the United States.  Father joked, “After two years, the parishioners accepted me as an honorary Highlander.”

Blessings to all on this Feast Day of St. Juan Diego.
