Second Email SCAM Attempt

Posted on August 11, 2020 by Published by

It has come to our attention that there has been a second attempt by someone targeting OLW parishioners with an email SCAM.

This unscrupulous person is impersonating Father Marat, using this email: “fatherarturmarat@gmail.com.”  The email asks for help providing assistance to folks in Lebanon impacted by the explosion.  The scammer is attempting to deceive parishioners by making a PayPal payment.

PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL.  This is not Father’s correct email address.  Instead, we suggest you BLOCK the above-mentioned email address and then erase the email.

Below is a portion of the content from this SCAM email…

With over 100 killed and over 4000 injured so far,We are sending our team to provide EMERGENCY assistance to those affected by this horrible disaster which has left thousands of people homeless, hungry, and helpless…

We are hereby soliciting for your support so as to help the injured with medical assistance, the homeless with some shelters, the hungry with some foods, Nothing is too small for you to ensure that these people, even in the midst of this horrible tribulation can still smile again…   [Remainder of the email deleted]

If further updates or information become available, we will let you know through our website, email and/or Facebook communications channels.
