Streaming Mass Volunteer(s) Needed

Posted on July 28, 2020 by Published by

Do you enjoy, or are you curious about, video production?  Would you be interested in helping our Communications Team stream weekday and/or weekend masses for our OLW parishioners?  When you watch TV at home, are you the one who likes to control the remote?

If so, WE NEED YOU!  We’re looking for one, or possibly more, reliable volunteers to supplement our existing mass streaming team of three (soon to be two).

We currently stream weekday masses at 8:30 am and a Saturday Vigil Mass at 5:00 pm.  We also stream other church events as needed.

Streaming Mass FAQ:

  • You don’t need to be a videographer but it helps to have a basic understanding of the video process.
  • You do need to be comfortable using a computer and software. We use special software (vMix Live Streaming) to switch between cameras, add graphics and control the audio.
  • We live stream mass on our OLW Facebook page and record each mass using this software.  Then we upload the recorded mass to our website for “on-demand” viewing.
  • This position requires minimal training (it’s not that difficult, honest), and our present team is ready, willing, able, and enthusiastic to work beside and coach you until you’re comfortable with the process.
  • No age requirement here – just need reliable team players.
  • This is a great opportunity for teens to learn about video and to obtain those all-important service hours (hint, hint).
  • We’re really not AV Geeks (well, maybe a little)

If you’re interested in joining our team, of have questions that need answers, please email Sean Reilly.
