Looking For Additional Church Reopening Team Volunteers

Posted on July 16, 2020 by Published by

Our Lady of the Wayside church is open for attendance at certain masses, scheduled sacraments and services. While COVID-19 is still a threat, we are dedicated to offering a safe environment in our church for all parishioners. We need your help to make this possible.  Without the dedicated service of many volunteer parishioners, like you, our church would not be open for in-person services.

If you are in good health, are not in a high-risk COVID-19 group and are able to volunteer for one service a week (about one hour), we would love (need!) to have you part of the team. Volunteers under age 18 must have parental permission and may not serve as Greeters. Those who are 65+ years old must be in excellent health and aware of the risks inherent to those in their age group.

Please review the three Volunteer Team descriptions listed below and sign up for the one you’d like to join. A Volunteer Team Leader will contact you soon.

  • Setup/Greeter Team: Ensures supplies for each sacramental celebration are in place, entrances and exits are clearly marked, windows are open, restrooms are stocked, hand sanitizers are available and pew seating is marked. Welcomes congregants and manages seating flow, confirms all are wearing masks and use hand sanitizer upon entering, and do not enter the church if ill.
  • Cleaner/Closer Team: Sanitizes essential and high-traffic areas before and/or after each service. Cleaning supplies and check-lists will be provided.  Closes windows and doors, turns off lights and air conditioning and locks the church before exiting.
