Another Joyful Celebration of Simbang Gabi at Our Lady of the Wayside!
OLW parishioners and guests joined in the annual Filipino “Simbang Gabi” Mass and festival on Sunday, December 15.
The celebration began at the 6:00 p.m. Mass which featured a procession of youngsters bearing signs of Filipino values and virtues. The signs were displayed in the sanctuary during Mass.
Father Vinod Kumar Nagothu, OLW’s Associate Pastor, was the celebrant but the homily was delivered by Deacon Don Grossnickle who specifically addressed Filipino traditions and strong Catholic beliefs. It was obvious Deacon Don had done some research, which was appreciated by the OLW Filipino parishioners and the guests.
A wonderful reception is always hosted immediately afterwards in the Fr Mackin Center.
Simbang Gabi is an annual Filipinio (and OLW!) tradition celebrated during Advent. The Mass and celebration are open to all. Mark it on your calendar for next year!
