OLW’s 2019 Parish Picnic Beats the Rain!!
RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY…AND IT DID!
Uncooperative weather may have reduced the attendance and forced some modifications to OLW’s Annual Picnic last Sunday but it certainly did not dampen the spirits of adults and children attending last Sunday’s OLW Parish Picnic.
The most dramatic result of Sunday’s morning’s annoying, but steady, rain was the shifting of the scheduled 11:30 a.m. Outdoor Mass to the Church. Not surprising, the Church was quite prepared and able to host the Mass and picnic attendees had no difficulty finding the Church.
The rain also resulted in a smaller than usual attendance but as the rain stopped, just about the time Mass ended, parishioners begin arriving and adults and young people (…lots of kids…) began arriving and taking advantage of the children’s games and the large selection of food and beverages.
May picnic-attendees commented that the music – provided by the Billy Joel and Sir Elton John Tribute Band – might have been the best-ever at an OLW picnic.
About 100 OLW parishioners and friends, including may high-schoolers, served in a variety of support (and actual work) capacities. Katie Aulenta served as picnic coordinator, as she has in the past.
