REP Weekly News – Week of July 15th

NEEDS FOR REP PROGRAM IN 2019-2020

The REP program is need of Catechists for the following grades beginning in September, 2019:

• 1 Assistant Catechist for Grade 2
• 1 Catechist for Grade 3, meets every Tuesday from 4:00-5:15 pm
• 2 Catechist for Grade 4, meets every Tuesday from 4:00-5:15 pm
• 1 Catechist for Grade 5, meets every other Tuesday from 7:00-8:30 pm

Please consider this ministry and join other dedicated Catechists who impart their faith and knowledge to the children of our parish. Both Sister Joan and Sister Adrienne provide support and direction throughout the year. The texts are very easy to use and lend additional supplements for instruction. Please call the REP office, 847-398-5011, and we can give you more information.

SACRAMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 2 is a sacrament year, as students will receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist for the first time. Students entering Grade 2 must have had formal religious instruction the previous year; otherwise, they will be placed in Grade 1.

Grade 6 is a prerequisite for entering the Confirmation preparation program. Preparation for Confirmation takes place in grades 7 and 8. Students entering Grade 7 must have had formal religious instruction in Grade 6, otherwise they will be placed in Grade 6 instead of Grade 7. During the two-year preparation program for the Sacrament of Confirmation, students are to attend classes regularly with as little absence as possible if they wish to be confirmed in Grade 8.

Parents who have not registered their children, especially for grades 1 and 6 are asked to download and print the forms –  click here and complete them as soon as possible. Fill out the forms, and return them to the Parish Center with a check payable to OLW for the registration amount. Parents who will have children for the first time in the Religious Education Program are required to turn in a copy of your child’s/children’s Baptismal Certificate along with the forms. Each parent is required to also complete the Volunteer Form included in the packet of forms.
