CELEBRATION OF 25 YEARS AS A DEACON by Deacon Tom Corcoran

Posted on May 12, 2019 by Published by

I wanted to share with you that last week Irene and I celebrated the 25th  anniversary of my ordination to the diaconate. It’s amazing how quickly the time has passed.

Then, we were members of the St. Raymond’s community and for 7 years our primary focus was leading the R.C.I.A. ministry. In that time, we welcomed over 100 catechumen of every type of faith and non-faith background. A large number of them became active in ministries to bring God’s message to others.

When we moved to Our Lady of the Wayside, Fr. Costello asked us to lead the Care & Outreach (Social Justice) ministries. For the past 18 years we have guided over 15 ministries reaching out to those with special needs. The ministries include shelter for the homeless (PADS); sharing with our partner parish, St. Mark’s; ministries to people with special needs; Respect Life and many others. Recently we have been able to initiate ministries focusing on Domestic Abuse and SPRED (Special Religious Development).

A sincere thank you to all who have shared with us in those wonderful ministries. And while it may be a bit optimistic to say “here’s to the next 25 years” – we pray to God to guide and strengthen us and all involved in God’s ministries that we will bring the message of Jesus Christ to all.

Thank you, Deacon Tom & Irene Corcoran
