OLW’s “Risen Christ” Statue Has Been Renovated and Refreshed

Just in time for Easter Sunday, one of OLW’s most prominent art works, the “Risen Jesus,” was refinished, refreshed  and re-installed on the wall above the tabernacle in the Church.

As has been the case in the past, the restoration was performed by local artist and chaplain, Joseph Marco of Hoffman Estates.

Joseph, who is the Catholic chaplain and coordinator of Catholic ministers at Northwest Community Hospital, holds a degree in theology from Mundelein College of Loyola University.

But one of his true passions has been art, particularly religious art, and he is considered a master of renovation and renewal of artworks, especially statues and artworks in churches.

During OLW’s 2018 church renovation project, Joseph cleaned, refreshed and renewed all the visible statues in the church, including the crucifix which hangs above the altar most of the year.
