Married Couples and Families: Crucial Disciples and Evangelists in our Church
“While on sabbatical in Rome, just before being assigned Administrator of Our Lady of the Wayside, I attended a course of fellow canon lawyers promoted by the Tribunal Of The Roman Rota. The course cited the protection of marriage and the pastoral care of wounded couples as two crucial areas of concern in our Church today. After the course, Pope Francis addressed our group and shared how Saints Aquila and Priscilla became two of the first married disciples of Christ, firmly establishing that our Church is a ‘community of families called to be witnesses of the Gospel.'”
“In the first century, family was the center of our church. Two thousand years later, it still is! One of my key missions as your new pastor is to sanctify and enrich the spiritual lives of married couples and families at Our Lady of the Wayside. Families centered in Christ are perhaps the most effective evangelists in our Church today.”
