Father Mark’s Reflection on “Hail Mary”

Posted on December 21, 2021 by Published by

At Our Lady of the Wayside’s Vigil Mass on Saturday, December 18, Father Mark Augustine shared a beautiful reflection on the “Hail Mary” prayer — a prayer that has been recited, in one form or another, since the Annunciation.

Father shared that “Hail Mary” brings us joy, peace and comfort, and recognizes Mary’s unique role in the life of the church, in all of humanity, and in our role as disciples. He urged Waysiders to, “Prepare the mangers of your hearts” in this final week of the Advent Season, just as Mary prepared the manger for the birth of Jesus, her newborn child.  An in his concluding remarks, Father suggested, “The next time you pray a “Hail Mary,” don’t just rattle it off in an absent-minded way. Be intentional and mindful of the beautiful words that you are reciting.”

Watch Father Mark’s Reflection here:

Hail, Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.
