REP News – Week of April 13th

Posted on April 10, 2020 by Published by

With the extension of the governor’s order to shelter in place extending till April 30th, we will not be returning to R.E.P. Classes for the year. We encourage families to complete the textbooks and use the time while e-learning to work on educating and strengthening their child’s faith. Please have the family watch Sunday Mass from Holy Name Cathedral on Sunday mornings, 9:30 a.m. or on Easter Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Celebrated by Cardinal Cupich (streamed by Channel 7 & cable packages will prevail for channel number). Families can also follow the link, https://radiotv.archchicago.org/television/broadcast-masses, to watch Mass online.  Or watch Easter Mass from here at OLW celebrated by Fr Artur – all Triduum Services will be celebrated and posted on this website, our Facebook page and our Youtube channel – schedule is here.

The First Communion Masses for both 4/25 and 5/2 will be POSTPONED until we are able to gather in Church. Once the Archdiocese provides direction on scheduling for Confirmation, and plans to resume liturgies, Mass, and parish ministries, communication for the celebration of these sacraments will be determined.

Registrations were mailed last week to all families who do not have a balance on their account. The forms are requested back by April 30th to ensure that we can order books and supplies in a timely fashion. If you are unsure about your account balance, please EMAIL repsecretary@olwparish.org and Mrs. Dickey can help you in that regard. Parents whose children will be new to the Program are asked to turn in their registration form along with a copy of their child’s Baptismal Certificate.

If you know of a family in which the student will be entering 1st grade or 6th grade, please advise them of the following:

POLICIES FOR SACRAMENT YEARS

Students entering Grade 2 must have had formal religious instruction the previous year, otherwise they will be placed in Grade 1.

Grade 2 is a sacrament year, as students will receive Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist for the first time.

Students entering Grade 7 must have had formal religious instruction in Grade 6 before being accepted into the Grades 7-8 Confirmation Preparation Pro-gram.
