Come, follow me…and heal our world

Brothers and Sisters,

This week, in the first reading from Isaiah, we hear words that encourage us to give alms and share with the poor. It is in this spirit that the 2020 Annual Catholic Appeal is underway. Many of you will be receiving or have already received, a mailing from Cardinal Cupich. In his letter the Cardinal asks that you make a pledge to the 2020 Annual Catholic Appeal. He is also asking for your generosity.

Annual Catholic Appeal Fund maintains the ministries, programs and services benefiting all Catholics in the
Archdiocese of Chicago and throughout the world. It supports religious education to children, youth and adults in economically disadvantage communities. It is also one of the largest philanthropic sources of financial assistance for Catholic schools in the Archdiocese.  The Appeal supports both parish and Archdiocesan ministries.

We are still only one week away before the commitment weekend, which this year falls on February 15-16. It gives us time to prayerfully consider a generous gift to the Appeal. Please remember that your pledge can be paid in five months allowing you to be more generous.

Last year over 260 people participated in the Appeal. The total amount pledged reached $138,077 of which $137,162 had already been received as of the mid of January. Our goal for the Archdiocese was $124,199. The remaining balance was sent back to the Parish and will be used to help us with our most urgent needs.

Both Cardinal Cupich and I would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of those who participated in the Appeal last year and encourage all of you to generously contribute to the Appeal this year.

Fr. W. Artur Marat
