The three-month-long project to repair and replace elements of the church that were in need of renewal was virtually completely on time - and on schedule. The Easter Vigil Mass on Holy Saturday was celebrated in in the church and all Easter Sunday Masses were held as planned in the brighter and cleaner church.
One area of the church that was not finished - (and hadnít been expected to be finished) - was the return of the OLW organ to the choir loft. The complexity of the OLW organ, which had not been renovated in many years, was not expected to be completed by Easter but might be completed and re-installed within a week.
Here are some aspects of the church renewal that parishioners may not have noticed:
- New chairs in the combination Brideís Room and Cry Room in the rear of the church. Many parishioners have never seen this important part of the church.
- Blue Pews. The blue blend with the new blue-grey carpeting throughout the church and - many parishioners have reported - they are much more comfortable!
- Soft blue cushions on the benches in the enlarged area for handicapped or disabled parishioners or others who might need more space.
- Blue trim throughout the church. In addition to the carpeting and kneelers, the accent colors are now blue, including the niches for St. Joseph (shown) and the Blessed Mother.
