The Welcome Renewal Weekend

What Is "The Welcome Experience"?

Have you been searching for a deeper relationship with God? Have you always wanted to become more involved in your parish but didn't know how? Then Welcome Renewal Weekend (Christ Renews His Parish 2.0) is just what you're looking for! The Welcome process, centered around the Renewal Weekend, emphasizes continued growth in our daily Christian life and offers a unique opportunity to make new friends in our parish. For more information on the program, created by Matthew Kelly's Dynamic Catholic, click here.

What Happens During the Weekend?

The Renewal Weekend is an opportunity to hear how Catholics function in our modern, complex, fast-paced society. The Renewal Weekend provides an opportunity for individual spiritual growth through prayer and personal reflection. You will be sharing conversation and thoughts (as much or as little as each individual desires) with others in the parish who are as caught up as you are in the many demands of everyday life presented by families, society and jobs.

The Welcome Renewal Weekend may be an opportunity for you to develop a closer and deeper relationship with Christ.

Who May Attend?

The Welcome Renewal Weekend is open to all Our Lady of the Wayside parishioners, age 18 or older.

When and Where Do These Weekends Take Place?

Each year there is a Welcome Renewal Weekend for men and one for women. They are conducted in our parish center building.

The next Women's Welcome Renewal Weekend will be November 3-4, 2018. For information about that, email or call the parish office at 253-5353.

The next men's Welcome Renewal Weekend takes place in Spring 2019. For information about that, email or call the parish office at 253-5353 for information.

How Long Do the Weekends Last?

The Renewal Weekend begins at the school at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and ends by 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. It's guaranteed to be a memorable 31 hours!!!

Who Will Invite Me?

You will be invited by announcements at Mass, through the parish bulletin, or perhaps by someone in the parish who may know you. Individual invitations may also be made by the Invitations coordinators, based on recommendations from others in the parish.

If you have an interest in Welcome or feel this is a time in your life to strengthen your spiritual life, then please take this opportunity to participate in a Welcome Renewal Weekend.

What About Sacraments?

Mass will be celebrated on Saturday or Sunday. An opportunity for Reconciliation will be provided for anyone who wants to participate.

Where Do I Sleep?

Sleeping accommodations are in the Parish Center. Beds are provided. You are asked to bring sheets or a sleeping bag and pillow, along with your own towel, soap and other toiletries you might need. A shower is available.

What About Meals?

Previous Welcome participants from Wayside provide all the meals. There will be opportunities during the Weekend for regular breaks for coffee, soft drinks and snacks.

If you have special dietary needs, please let us know when you register so we will be able to provide for your needs.

What Type of Clothes Do I Bring On the Weekend?

Casual and comfortable clothing is appropriate for both Saturday and Sunday.

Who Conducts the Weekend?

A Welcome team is made up of a Spiritual Director and people who have attended previous Weekends. Each team spends about six months in Formation to continue the process of presenting a Weekend to a new group of parishioners.

The Weekend can be taken as a renewal experience with no further commitments. However, many participants choose to join a new team in formation.

What Does A Weekend Cost?

To help defray the cost of the Weekend, we ask each participant and team member to donate, if possible, $65.00 toward the cost of beds, food, etc. If you are unable to pay, please do not let that stop you from attending. We welcome you to join us.
