OLW STUDENTS TO HONOR VETERANS NEXT MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13

For the second consecutive year, students at Our Lady of the Wayside School will honor veterans of U.S. military service in commemoration of Veterans Day.

Last year, students sent letters (followed by Christmas cards) to veterans whose names had been compiled. In many instances, veterans have stayed in contact with the students.

This year, OLW students are taking the veterans' tribute a step farther by inviting as many as they can reach to a special Veterans Tribute that will be held in the OLW Gymnasium on
Monday, November 13, two days after the official observation of Veterans Day, which is on a Saturday this year. The program will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 11:30 a.m. Student participation is limited to seventh and eighth graders.

"We are very proud of and indebted to the veterans in our parish," said OLW Pastor Father Edward Fialkowski. "Many of them are very active in the parish and we want to take this chance to express our appreciation to them, but particularly, to give our students a chance to meet them and to learn from them."

In addition to remarks by students and veterans, there will be time for questions and answers, some limited refreshments, and a group photograph of the students and veterans will be taken.

Veterans whose names are in the file following last year's program will be invited, and veterans who were not on the list last year
will be included if they provide their names and addresses (and e-mail address, if available) as soon as possible.

Information should be sent to officeservices @olwparish.org or call 847-253-5353. Veterans are asked to send their information as soon as possible after receiving this notice.

Information should include name, address, telephone number, dates of service and branch of service. Please also indicate if you plan to attend the OLW program on November 13.

WANT INFO ON OLW
Religious Education Program

Our Lady of the Wayside Parish welcomes members and visitors to the Religious Education Program at OLW. Our most important goal is the spiritual growth and development of the children entrusted to our care. The Religious Education Office is here to assist parishioners and visitors in the faith formation of their children.

The success of our program is largely dependent on our devoted and conscientious catechists and volunteers, as well as supportive and cooperative parents.

For information, contact Religious Education Program at
847-398-5011 or e-mail to:

Repsecretary @olwparish.org.
