SCHOOL ADVISORY BOARD
Our Lady of the
Wayside School is looking for parishioners who want to serve by being part of the
2017-2018 School Advisory Board

There are three SAB vacancies for the 2017-2018 school year. Any parishioner over the age of 21 may nominate himself or herself. It is not necessary to have a child enrolled in the parish school. Parishioners whose children have graduated are encouraged to nominate himself or herself. The Board will benefit from a diverse membership. Nominees do not need to circulate petitions, obtain signatures or do anything other than submit the simple application.

Complete the official Nomination Application and submit it by the deadline of March 27th at 7:30 p.m. The official nomination form is available on page 11 and online on the school website's bulletin board. The form may be submitted via email to the Elections Committee Chairperson, Grant Trunnell at granttrunnell @gmail.com and copied to SAB Chairperson Brian Newell at bpnewell @comcast.net.

The annual election of new members to the Our Lady of the Wayside School Advisory Board will be held after each  Mass on Sunday, April 23nd and the Saturday Mass on April 22rd.

DISPENSATION FOR ST. PATRICK'S DAY

St. Patrick's Day, March 17, falls on a Friday this year. Cardinal Cupich has given a general dispensation to Catholics from abstaining from meat on this day. Instead, Catholics in the Archdiocese of Chicago who choose to make use of this general dispensation are asked to substitute another form of penance for the Lenten Friday abstinence.

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME

Daylight Savings Time begins this Sunday, March 12. It's time to spring ahead. Don't forget to turn your clocks ahead one hour.

HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS

Dating and friendships can be complicated. Have you ever asked any of the following questions:

How do we know what is good or bad in a relationship?

What does a healthy relationship look like?

How do I have healthy relationships?

How do you know if you are in a bad relationship?

If so, then this event is for you!

Sunday, March 19th at 7:00 p.m.
This event is open to all teens and parents!

Have you ever had any questions about the faith or anything to do with the Church?

Want to learn how to pray better and improve your relationship with God?

We will have a question and answer night during High School Youth Group on Sunday, April 2nd.

You can either email questions to Sean or drop them off in the Parish Center anytime.

REGISTRATION FOR R.E.P. PROGRAM

Registrations for next year's R.E.P. program will be mailed the last week of March and will be due before April 30, 2017 in order to avoid a late fee. SENIOR CITIZENS AND OLW STUDENTS JOIN HANDS
At OLW Parish Service Day March 4

OLW Parishioners - young and "not-so-young" alike joined hands Saturday, March 4 both inside and outside the Father Mackin Center as the parish held a Parish Service Day.

In the OLW parking lot, a donation truck for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, was being filled by OLW men and young men with items including furniture, electronic utilities and other still-useful household goods.

In the Father Mackin Center, elementary school students, teen-agers, parents and senior citizens joined to make Easter Baskets, rosaries, Flower displays and even baked goods to benefit "Cows Against Malaria."

One group of parents and youngsters washed baby bottles for the Women's Center of Greater Chicago.

Women from the OLW Shawl Ministry were on hand to demonstrate their knitting and crocheting skills while making useful (and beautiful) shawls for people in need of emotional and physical comfort.

SOUP AND STATIONS MINISTRY WELCOMES PARISHIONERS TO FRIDAY NIGHT STATIONS

SEE MORE OLW PHOTOS ON FACEBOOK

Since Our Lady of the Wayside began using Facebook as a means of communicating with parishioners, we have learned that it's not just teen-agers who use the modern electronic communications device, but many of the
"post-teens," middle-agers and senior citizens get OLW news and information from the OLW Facebook site.

In recognizing the growth of new and more modern means of Communications, OLW has increased the amount of content, including photos, on its Facebook site.

Some photos which appear in the Bulletin may also be seen on Facebook, along with many others from various events at OLW.

The Our Lady of the Wayside Facebook site can be found at:

In addition, Our Lady of the Wayside School's active and popular Facebook site can be found at:
