2017 ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL
"Love Your Neighbor As Yourself"

This weekend our parish will be conducting the Annual Catholic Appeal in-pew Commitment Weekend. Please remember that the Annual Catholic Appeal is much different than a one-time special collection. It is a pledge campaign where you can make a gift payable in installments.

The ACA theme,
"Love Your Neighbor As Yourself," was selected to remind us that our contributions to the Annual Catholic Appeal enable the funded ministries and services to share God's love with many others in our Parish and our Archdiocese.

Each pledge makes a difference because all Parishes participate in the campaign and the gifts of many enable our Archdiocese to deliver needed ministries and services.

Thank you for your prayerful consideration and generous response.

SHROUD OF TURIN EXHIBIT AT OLW PARISH

The Adult Enrichment team of our parish is excited to be hosting The Man of the Shroud Exhibit, March 12 and 13. The shroud is believed by many to be the burial cloth of Jesus and has long been venerated by the faithful.

This exhibit includes detailed photographs of the 14 foot shroud and how the wounds depicted relate to the Gospel accounts of the passion of Christ. The exhibit presents the results of a comprehensive scientific and forensic study with numerous photographs and illustrations and is the work of the Center for the Study of the Passion of Christ and the Holy Shroud.

Plans are also underway to include a presentation and Q and A from Wayne Phillips, M.D., during the exhibit. Dr Phillips has compiled over 100 scientific facts regarding the shroud. As a physician, he has a curious mind, shaped by logic and science. As a Catholic, he understands that some beliefs are still a mystery. We expect this will occur early Sunday afternoon.

Look for more information in the next few weeks in the bulletin and on the OLW website. If you would like to assist us in staffing the exhibit on Sunday the 12th or Monday evening the 13th, kindly send a message to adultenrichment @olwparish.org with your availability. We welcome you!

THIS WEEK'S CD:
Why Do We Have a Pope?
Dr. Scott Hahn

As a former Protestant Minister, Dr. Scott Hahn knows very well the common objections non-Catholics have to the Catholic Faith. In this informative talk, he tackles the tough issue of the Papacy and defends our belief that the Pope is part of Christ's design for His Church. Become better equipped to respond to those who attach the crucial role of the successor of St. Peter in the Church's mission.

The Lighthouse Kiosk is located outside the Gathering Place. Suggested donations for CD's are $3.

ABRAHAMIC PEACE TOUR TO THE HOLY LAND

July 30 to August 9, 2017 - Deadline to register March 30, 2017

Jews, Muslims and Christians all trace their roots to a man of faith who heard God's call, who journeyed from home in confidence that God had a mission for him and whose faithfulness to that mission still impacts the world today. Join a group of Abraham's descendents - Jews, Muslims and Christians - as they travel to the land called holy by all his descendants. There we will dialogue with and learn from leaders of all three religions who are working for peace. Like Abraham, God is calling us to journey from home and embrace a mission - a mission of interfaith peace that our communities, society and world desperately needs us to embrace. Like our spiritual ancestor Abraham, we too can change the world.

Fr. Corey Brost is one of the founders of the Children of Abraham Coalition, a coalition for Muslims, Jews and Christians in the Chicago area that has been working for interfaith peace for six years.

Contact Deacon Mike Madison if you have any questions about the meeting. Or visit the website

BISHOP RASSAS VISITS OLW AGAIN

"Wayside's Bishop," George J. Rassas made another visit to OLW last Sunday when he celebrated the 8:15 a.m. Mass. It was Bishop Rassas' second visit to Wayside during the past month as he has been helping fill-in for Father Louis Golamari, who took a short break to visit his family in India.

For those who wondered what Bishop Rassas was referring to when he mentioned that Father Louis was "recovering," Father Louis had a slight motorbike mishap but is expected "home" by the end of the month.
