IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO REGISTER

The dates of the scheduled course have changed and it is not too late to register for the Adult Enrichment course; Follow Me-Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John. The course will meet on Saturday mornings at 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Course dates are February 11, 18, 25/March 11, 18, 25/April 1,8. Register via email at

Adultenrichment @olwparish.org or using the form below.

What does your relationship with Christ look like? Do you see Jesus as simply a great teacher? A prophet? A man of great wisdom? Or do you see him as more? Jesus calls us to be more than simply believers - he calls us to be his disciples and his friends. Do you consider yourself a disciple and friend of Christ? The Gospel of John shows us that God became like us; he became a man so that we could be become like him and grow closer to him. Follow Me: Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John is your guide to a personal encounter with Christ.

Follow Me invites you to experience the joy of a renewed friendship with Christ. You will learn what it takes to follow him. You will experience the joy of divine friendship, and you will see how God - and only God - can satisfly the deepest desires of your heart.

Participants of Follow Me will receive a workbook and will meet weekly to view an engaging video presentation followed by a time of lively group discussion and fellowship. The eight 30-minute videos, presented by Dr. Edward Sri, will guide you through the Gospel of John. Dr. Sri will explain how Christ's encounters with his disciples, the Samaritan woman, the man born blind, and others, are examples of how he lovingly and persistently calls each of us to a more intimate and life changing relationship with him.

CONNECTING OUR MIND BODY, AND SPIRIT
Looking for a way to relax and reduce your stress level a bit? Looking for some quiet prayer time? Why not combine the two? Join us once a month for an evening of yoga, prayer, guided meditation, and peaceful music. We will use yoga postures, movement and breathing to relax our bodies and minds in preparation for prayer and Scripture-based meditations. The next session is on February 1st from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Gathering Place. All ability levels are welcome, as the postures and movements can be adapted to what each individual is able to do. Please bring either a yoga mat or beach towel.

If you have any questions, contact Mandy Dillon in the parish office: 847-253-5353 or
Pastoralassociate @olwparish.org. Don't want to miss seeing the announcement in the bulletin? Send Mandy an email to sign up to receive an email reminder about these sessions.

Bishop George J. Rassas, Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago (and Episcopal Vicar of Vicariate 1, which includes OLW), honored Our Lady of the Wayside last weekend (January 14-15) when he celebrated two of the regular weekend Masses: Saturday night at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m. Although Bishop Rassas visits OLW fairly regularly (especially at Confirmation Time) his visit last weekend was in part to "fill-in" for Father Louis Golamari, who is taking a short break to visit his family in India. Bishop Rassas' Vicariate includes Lake County and much of Northern Cook county.

FILIPINO 'SIMBANG GABI' CELEBRATION CONTINUES AT OLW

Our Lady of the Wayside doesn't have the largest Filipino population in the Archdiocese of Chicago but we do have one of the most active and spiritually motivated. One of the major events of the year is the annual 'Simbang Gabi' dinner which is attended by Filipinos and parishioners (including our Priests) who want to celebrate with the Filipinos. The 2016 'Simbang Gabi' celebration was held in December.

OLW'S CFM FOLKS CELEBRATE ANNUAL 'CHILI COOK OFF' - DID YOU KNOW OLW'S CFM PROGRAM IS ONE OF THE LARGEST IN U.S.?

One of Wayside's most active groups - and one of the  largest of its kind in the USA - our Christian Family Movement (CFM) program, held it's annual 'Chili Cook-off' in the OLW gym Saturday night (January 14). The national designation was attributed to OLW by Archdiocese of Chicago Bishop George J. Rassas, who visited OLW last weekend.

The event, "From Conflict to Communion: Catholic and Lutheran Perspectives," will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 1234 N. Arlington Heights Rd., on Saturday, February 25, from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. The occasion will include a short prayer service, opportunity for questions from the audience, and refreshments.
